Lucy, a 14-year-old student, used to miss school several days each month because she couldn’t afford sanitary pads. The stigma and embarrassment forced her to stay home during her menstrual cycle, affecting her performance and confidence. “I would fall behind in class and felt ashamed,” she quietly admitted.
Thanks to the Dr. Racheal Wairimu Foundation’s menstrual hygiene initiative, Grace now receives a regular supply of sanitary pads along with menstrual health education. With this support, she no longer has to miss school and can focus on her studies like her peers.
“Now I go to school every day without fear. I feel clean, confident, and ready to chase my dreams,” Lucy says with a smile.
