When we first met Achieng, a bright 13-year-old girl, she was on the verge of dropping out of school. Her widowed mother, struggling to provide for five children, could no longer afford school fees. Despite her challenges, Achieng’s determination to learn never wavered—she continued to show up at school, even when sent home repeatedly.
Through the support of the Dr. Racheal Wairimu Foundation, Achieng was enrolled in our education sponsorship program. We paid her school fees, provided uniforms, and supported her with mentorship. Today, Achieng is thriving in Form One at a local secondary school and dreams of becoming a doctor. Her story is just one example of how empowering one girl can uplift an entire family and community.
