For years, Amina, a 29-year-old woman, suffered in silence under an abusive marriage. Like many others, she believed she had no choice—no support system, no financial freedom, and no voice. “I thought violence was normal. I had nowhere to go and no one to talk to,” she recalled.
That changed when Amina attended a Gender-Based Violence and Women Capacity Building Workshop organized by the Dr. Racheal Wairimu Foundation. There, she learned about her rights, how to access legal and psychosocial support, and how to rebuild her confidence. She also received training in life skills and small business management, enabling her to begin earning her own income.
Today, Amina is not just a survivor—she is a mentor to other women in her village. “I found my voice. I now help other women speak out and stand up. The training didn’t just help me escape abuse—it gave me the power to rebuild my life.”
