In the bosom of Western Equatoria State, a new voice rises—bold, visionary, and full of hope. The Deputy Speaker of the WES Assembly has called upon us all to “amplify legislative strength and unity.” This comes after over a year of suspended legislative activity—a silence in the house that should speak for the people.
But just as the children of Israel returned from exile to rebuild the ruined walls of Jerusalem, we too are being called by God to restore what was broken and to raise what was fallen. For the Word of the Lord in Nehemiah
2:17 tells us, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins… Come, let us rebuild the wall… and we will no longer be in disgrace.”
The legislative assembly is not just a building or a chamber; it is the heartbeat of governance, justice, and peace. When its voice is silenced, the people suffer in confusion, lawlessness, and stagnation. But praise be to
God, who stirs up leaders like Nehemiah in every generation—those who do not ignore the ruins but
stand among them and call for action, unity, and restoration.
Beloved, it is time for us to come together as one body, one people under God, to rebuild the bridges of trust, unity, and purpose. Always remember, two are better than one, if either of them falls, one can help the other up. A divided house cannot stand—but when we walk in unity, nothing can hinder the progress God has ordained.
Let us applaud the courage of leaders who are lifting their voices to restore the dignity of our institutions. And let us also take responsibility as citizens, not only to pray, but to participate; not only to watch, but to work.
To our leaders: the people are watching and hoping. May you be like King Solomon, who prayed for wisdom above all else, to govern with justice and righteousness. Let every decision you make be rooted in truth, driven by service, and guided by the fear of the Lord. To the church and community: now is the time to stand in the gap. Let us speak peace, sow reconciliation, and teach the next generation the value of godly leadership.
Yes, the legislative silence may have lasted over a year, but God is not done with us yet. What was delayed can now be revived. What was dormant can live again. Let this be our Nehemiah moment, where every heart, every hand, and every hope join in the sacred work of nation-building through law, unity, and faith. Together, we rebuild. Together, we rise.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we lift up our entire nation unto your able hands. We ask for Your hand upon our lawmakers, that You would fill them with wisdom, humility, and courage. Restore our legislative strength and let unity reign from village to assembly hall. May justice roll on like a river, and righteousness like a never-failing stream. Amen.
